Relationship Diarrhea and Intestinal Flu
Diarrhea is a bowel movement constantly with feces that contain excessive water (liquid). This is very common and usually not serious. Diarrhea usually last 2-3 days and can be cured with drugs. Some people often experience diarrhea as a part of irritable bowel syndrome or other chronic diseases associated with the large intestine.
Diarrhea can be classified 3 types of osmotic, secretory, or exudative.
Osmotic diarrhea is diarrhea caused by the difference in osmotic pressure in the intestine so the body fluids out into the intestine. A common example is diarrhea “chewing gum”, where sorbitol (type of sugar substitute) can not be absorbed by the body’s intestines causing increased osmotic pressure and draw fluid into the intestines, causing diarrhea.
Secretory diarrhea is diarrhea that occurs when the body to release fluid into the intestine because of the infection, drugs, and other secretory conditions.
Exudative diarrhea is accompanied by diarrhea with blood and pus in the stool. This occurs because of intestinal inflammation, such as Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis, and some infectious diseases.
Diarrhea Causes
The most common cause of diarrhea is viral infection of the intestine. The infection usually lasts two days and is sometimes called intestinal flu or stomach flu. Besides diarrhea can also be caused by:
* Infection by bacteria (the cause of most types of food poisoning)
* Infection by other organisms
* Eat foods that interfere with the digestive system
* Allergies to certain foods
* Drugs
* Radiation therapy
* Diseases of the bowel (Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis)
* Malabsorption (in which the body can not absorb certain nutrients)
* Hyperthyroidism
* Some types of cancer
* Misuse of laxatives
* Abuse of alcohol
* Operation digestive tract
* Diabetes
Diarrhea can also result from constipation (constipation), especially for people who have irritable bowel syndrome.
Diarrhea Symptoms
Symptoms of diarrhea can be divided into mild symptoms and severe symptoms. Severe symptoms may be a sign of more serious disease.
Symptoms include mild diarrhea:
* Abdominal bloating or cramps
* Feces liquid
* Frequently feel like shit
* Nausea and vomiting
Symptoms include severe diarrhea:
* All available in mild symptoms, and
* Blood, mucus, or undigested food in stool
* Weight loss
* Fever
If symptoms of diarrhea that appear are mild symptoms, just treated with anti-diarrhea drugs and drink 6-8 glasses of oralit day to replace lost fluids. Immediately contact your doctor if your diarrhea and fever that lasted more than 24 hours, also if accompanied by vomiting when taking the lead you can not replace lost body fluids.
